2006 AGM Minutes

Minutes of the Lands Social Golf Club
Annual General Meeting
Pineapple Hotel, - Wednesday, 13th December 2006

Meeting Opened:- 4.35 pm

Attendance:- P Long, R Farmer, W Lake, R Smith, M Frampton, R Lockens,

Welcome:- The President welcomed all members to the AGM and thanked them for their attendance.

Presidents Report:- The President gave a brief report which included:-
· thanks to Rod Farmer, Tony McEvoy, Norm Williams and Rod Smith
· thanks to Mark Frampton for organizing the Off Pay Raffle ($50 note raffle)
· thanks to the ’regulars’ for their attendance tonight and at games
· the success of the bus trip
· thanks to the Patrons (John and Dora) and the major sponsors Tony Powell (TP Hoses) and Geoff Laing (Laing Bricklaying)

Treasurers Report:- The Treasurers report had been pre-circulated.
The Treasurer spoke to the report briefly and asked if there were any questions regarding the report – there were none.

Election of Officers:-
The following people were nominated and elected unopposed for office for 2007.

Patron - John and Dora Crethary
President - P Long
Treasurer - R Farmer
Secretary - T McEvoy
Captain - N Williams
Off Pay Raffle - P Long
Bus Trip - Committee with assistance from others as needed

Games:- Format - it was decided to retain a similar format and mix of days as last year. The games are at the discretion of the Secretary but we will definitely continue with the Caboolture game.
Home course - it was decided to retain Nudgee as the home course (8 games) but to try for more Friday games and more (4) on the North course.
If anyone has a suggestion for a venue for a game contact Tony McEvoy (try to get all the details about the course before hand though).

Fees:- It was decided for fees to remain as they are currently.
Current members $35 / year with a $5 discount if paid before 1st March, 2006.
New members $50 / year with a $5 discount if paid before 1st March, 2006.
Game fees are to increase to $25 per game to help compensate for rising prices in green fees at most courses.

Handicaps:- The current handicapping arrangements will remain in place.
It was requested the Norm email out results of each game as well as more regular updates of standings in the Patrons Cup and QPCU trophy.

General Business:- Off Pay Raffle
Peter Long will look after the raffle – contact Peter if you are pulling out or interested in joining.

Free Game
The ‘free game’ will continue in 2007 but the winner must play the NEXT scheduled game with the Club to claim the free game.

Golf Balls
Rod Farmer and Ian Stone will continue to get the golf balls.

Club Championships
It was moved that there only be one (1) Club Championship event in future based on the top 16 qualifiers. It was proposed that savings made in only providing one trophy be put towards a runners-up prize for the Club Championship and POA.

It was moved that the prize money for the Club Championships (currently $120 for both A and B grades) be changed to $150 A grade and $100 B Grade

It was moved that if someone could not play a Club Championship round on the scheduled date that players must arrange to have the match played PRIOR to the scheduled date or the match is forfeited.

Acknowledgement of number of games
It was recognized the acknowledgement of milestone games (50, 100 etc) has fallen away recently. The committee will try and follow up on this and get them recognized in 2007.

Web page
Rod Smith will look into the possibility of an internet site for the golf club.

Presentation
A framed series of photographs of the Pineapple Hotel was presented to Bob Singleton in recognition of the continued and generous support given to the Lands SGC by the Pineapple Hotel.
